Repairs and restoration for stone worktops

This service is for stone worktops that are basically sound, but look a bit tired or have local damage. Chips, broken corners, marks and dull areas can often be repaired and re-polished, with the silicone around the edges renewed so everything looks cleaner and more finished.

Repairs: chips, cracks and corners

Small accidents can leave chips on edges, cracks near sinks or damaged corners. In many cases these can be repaired on site without taking the worktop out. We clean up the area, fill and shape it carefully, then polish it so it sits better with the rest of the surface.

This type of repair is useful if you have one or two problem spots but the rest of the worktop is still in good condition. It can help stop the damage drawing the eye every time you walk into the room, and is often cheaper than replacing a full run of stone.

Restoration: polish and edges

Over time, stone worktops can lose their shine or pick up light scratches and water marks. We can re-polish dull areas, tidy up edges and re-silicone along walls, upstands and around sinks. This makes joints neater and helps the surface look fresher again.

Restoration works well when the layout is still right for you, but the worktop just looks a bit worn. A careful clean, polish and new silicone bead can make a big difference to how the kitchen or bathroom feels day to day, without going through a full refit.

When to repair and when to replace

Repairs and restoration won’t suit every worktop, but they can be a good option in many cases. This simple guide can help you decide what might fit your situation.

Good situations for repairs and restoration

  • Only a few areas are damaged or chipped.
  • The layout still works for you and the units are sound.
  • You want to improve the look without a full new kitchen.
  • The surface is dull or marked but not broken right through.
  • You’d like a quick, low-disruption way to freshen things up.

When replacement may be better

  • Cracks run deep across a large section of the worktop.
  • Units are moving or out of level, making the stone unstable.
  • You plan to change the layout, appliances or sink positions.
  • The stone is heavily worn across most of the surface.
  • You want a completely different colour, material or style.

Why people choose us for repairs

  • Careful, steady work on chips, corners and edges.
  • Focus on blending repairs so they sit better with the rest of the stone.
  • Neat re-silicone lines to tidy up walls, sinks and upstands.
  • Honest advice on when repair is realistic and when replacement is better.
  • Aim to keep noise, dust and disruption as low as possible.
  • Working across Sussex and nearby areas.

Perfection

I would unreservedly recommend Tom and his team. They supplied and fitted marble for two bathrooms and quartzite for a kitchen for us. All was done with perfection. They were thorough, painstaking, knowledgeable and courteous; a joy to deal with. Tom was also very helpful and patient in helping us choose the stone. We felt always that they knew what they were doing, thinking ahead of any technical issues, and generally that it mattered most to them that we were 100% satisfied which we were.

Great service from experienced team!

We had our old worktops replaced and the whole process was much easier than expected. The team explained everything clearly, kept the place tidy and worked around our schedule without any fuss. The new stone was fitted the same day and the finish is genuinely better than we thought we’d get in an older kitchen. It felt organised from start to finish, and the result has made the whole room look far more up to date.

Your questions, answered

What kind of damage can you repair?
We can usually help with chips on edges, damaged corners, small cracks near sinks and local areas that have become rough or pitted. Photos are useful so we can give you a realistic view before any visit.
Will the repair be completely invisible?
We aim to make repairs as discreet as we can, but on some stones you may still see a slight difference up close. From normal standing distance most people find the repair much less noticeable than the original damage.
Do you need to remove the worktop to restore it?
No. Most repairs and restoration work are carried out with the worktop in place. This keeps disruption down and avoids disturbing units, tiles and flooring.
How long does a repair or restoration visit take?
Many jobs are completed within a few hours, depending on how many areas need attention and how much polishing is required. We can give a rough idea of timing once we have seen photos or details.
Can you work on quartz, granite and marble?
Yes. We work with all three. We’ll look at the type of stone you have and explain what is realistic for that material so you know what to expect from the repair or restoration.
